Pearl, 88, passed away November 1 at Mercy Hospice. A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, at Merle Hay Funeral Home. Visitation will be prior to service, beginning at 1:30.
Pearl E. Vail, daughter of Pete and Nan Knecht, was born on March 15, 1924 in Ord, Nebraska. She was a member of the Johnston Historical Society, Save the Animals and 9662 VFW Auxiliary. Her family always came first, but she enjoyed baseball, horse racing, Bingo and cards. Pearl worked for Hy-Line for ten years and delivered pictures all over Iowa for 12 years.
Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry; two daughters, Lynda Vail and Nancy Worley; her foster parents, Elliot and Dagmar Clement; eight brothers; two sisters and three foster brothers.
Pearl is survived by her son, Doug Vail (Sharon) of Runnells; daughter, Carla Langworthy (Eddie) of Grimes; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Evelyn Ewing of California.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Boys Town or to the family.
