Duard Simpson, 91, passed away November 3, 2012 at Parkridge Speciality Care Center in Pleasant Hill. He was born in Ogden, Iowa December 10, 1920 to Ray and Becky Simpson.
Duard graduated from Madrid High School and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired from Mercy Hospital after 35 years of service. Duard and his wife enjoyed making loom rugs and sold them at the Downtown Farmer's Market for 25 years. He volunteered at the Botanical Center and Living History Farms and was an active member of the Boy Scouts and Knights of Columbus.
Duard is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy; daughter, Susan (Steve) Wadden; son, Paul (Mary Beth) Simpson; grandchildren, Jeff (Sarah), Mike (Misty), Kathryn (Julie), Colleen (Bob) and Tom (Kristin); great-grandchildren, Kyle, Kelsey, Jack, Luke, EmmaSue, Leo, Henry, Finn and Gus; and his brother, Darwin of Gainsville, Florida.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3300 Easton Blvd. followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for congenital heart disease research.
