Alfred Chiodo, 91, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his family. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 14 at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, November 15 at Christ the King Catholic Church with entombment following at Resthaven Mausoleum.
Alfred was born January 3, 1921 in Soveria Manelli, Italy. He married Anna Gillotti on December 8, 1946. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea. He was the owner of City Construction Co. and retired from the City of Des Moines. He was a member of the American Legion Belizzi Macrae Post 659 and Club of Italian Americans.
Alfred is survived by his wife, Anna; children, Fred, Angela (Gary) Wilson, Kathy; grandchildren Aron (Lisa), Garrett, Talia (Ryan) Chaffee, Jake (Debbie), Jimmy, Jeff and Alec; great grandchild, Luna and sister, Maria Stella Marasco. He was preceded in death by his parents Natale and Maria Francesca and his brothers, Frank and Mike.
