Grace Yeiser Stageman died Wednesday, December 22, 2011, in Sebring, Florida. She was 87 years old. Grace was born on September 19, 1924, in Glenshaw, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Maurice and Edith Yeiser. She died peacefully at the Good Shepard Hospice in Sebring after suffering Alzheimer's disease the past five years.
Mrs. Stageman had a career as a caring mother and wife as well as a registered dietician at hospitals in Council Bluffs, Iowa and Des Moines, Iowa. She also served the Federal and State Model Cities program in Des Moines. She moved to St Petersburg, Florida in the early 1980's, and worked as the host of a nutrition and health radio program. In 1989 she moved to Lake Placid, Florida to become the director of the Woman and Infant Cooperative (WIC) for the State of Florida in Highlands County working until well into her 70's.
She is survived by her four children, Richard W. Stageman (Kim) of Norwalk, Iowa, Susan A. Stageman of Dallas, Texas, William M. Stageman of Lake Placid, Florida and Emily G. Rollison (Dave) of Des Moines, Iowa. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Placid, Florida. Her ashes will be spread on Wolf Creek at Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, near a beloved childhood family retreat.
