Carolyn R. Feaster, 80, passed away on January 20, 2013 at Deerfield Retirement Community with family by her side. Carolyn was born on December 6, 1932 in Chillicothe, Missouri to Eaton and Mabel Johnson.
Following graduation from Laurens High School in 1950, Carolyn attended the University of Iowa where she was a beloved member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and graduated in 1954. She was an active member of the P.E.O. sisterhood most of her life.
In June 1957, Carolyn married Harold "Harry" Feaster in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. During their 48 years together they had two children, Rick and Katie. During the early years Carolyn was a school teacher and loved to teach English. When the kids were young, she stayed home with them, returning to work at Brandeis as they got older. From 1980 to 1996, she and her family were the owners of the Computer Supply Store in downtown Des Moines. Carolyn was a devoted wife, loving mother and wonderful grandmother. She is and will always be, loved by SO many! Carolyn was a shining example of a happy & full life to all who knew her and was touched by her smile and up-lifting spirit each and every day until she went home to heaven.
During her life, she enjoyed traveling the world with her friends and family, reading books, singing, listening to music (Classical and Broadway musicals were a favorite), enjoying time with her cats, playing bridge, bird watching, playing the chimes, having lunch with her friends and so much more.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Vickey (Paul) DeLuca of Cincinnati, Ohio; her granddaughters, Emily (Scott) Sprenkel of Johnston, Iowa and Niki Feaster of Cincinnati; along with her two great granddaughters, Maya and Leilani Sprenkel who will miss her dearly! Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry; and her children, Rick and Katie.
At Carolyn's request her body was cremated and a "Celebration of Life" service will be held from 4:30 to 5 p.m. Thursday, January 31 at Deerfield Retirement Community. A reception will immediately follow 5 to 6 p.m.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff at the Deerfield Retirement Community and Skilled Nursing Facility as well as Mercy Hospice for their loving care given to Carolyn. They were simply amazing people.
