Jane Vander Well, 89, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024 in Le Mars after a brief illness.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Garden in Le Mars. Visitation will be Friday, April 5, 2024 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. with family present beginning at 5:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Jane's name to the Wasmer American Legion Auxiliary in Le Mars.
Jane Frances Callfas was born on October 22, 1934 in Le Mars, Iowa to Nelson and Madeline (Wiebersch) Callfas. She was raised in Le Mars and enjoyed baton twirling and cheerleading for Le Mars Central High School. Following graduation in 1954, she worked in accounting at two local car dealerships.
Jane was united in marriage to Herman 'Bud' Vander Well in August of 1956 in Le Mars, Iowa. They first made their home in Ames, Iowa while Bud completed his degree. Their family then traveled for Bud's work living in Nebraska, New Mexico, Texas, and central Iowa before moving back to Le Mars in 1993. Jane primarily stayed home raising their three children but also worked in retail and as a florist.
Jane was an active member at the Le Mars Methodist Church, the Wasmer American Legion Auxiliary and the LCSD Alumni Association. She and Bud enjoyed traveling, going to Indycar races, volunteering together for Meals on Wheels, and attending Legion events across Iowa. Jane also enjoyed baking, reading, puzzles, and shopping with her daughter.
Jane is survived by her three children: Don Vander Well, Dan (Donna) Vander Well, and Victoria Vander Well; two grandchildren: Jacki (Kerry) Blackerby and Jeremy Vander Well; two great-grandchildren: Shyanne and Hudson Blackerby; her brother, Jim (Karol) Callfas; brother-in-law, Dean Vander Well; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud Vander Well; parents-in-law: Herman and Everdina (Bloem) Vander Well; and sister-in-law, Jeanne Vander Well.
