Lonny Gene Besaw 1959-2020

Lonny Gene Besaw, son of Herbert and Marylou (Hanson) Besaw, was born on March 11, 1959 in Estherville, Iowa. He passed away at his home in Graettinger, Iowa on May 24, 2020 at the age of 61 years. Private family services will be held at a later date.

Lonny attended and graduated from Graettinger High School. Following high school he entered into the United States Army, being honorably discharged. He returned to Graettinger and worked as a heavy equipment operator in construction throughout the area. Lonny was united in marriage to Heidi McDermott on June 29, 1991.

Lonny enjoyed camping, fishing, and working on cars. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandsons. He was always up to proving that he was right, and would argue until you knew he was right. Lonny enjoyed celebrating Labor Day every year. His cats Oreo, Callie, Routy, and Misty brought him great joy and company for more than 20 years, as well as his dog Scruff.

Lonny is survived by his wife Heidi of Graettinger, his children Nathan (Dawn) Besaw and Gregory Besaw, and his grandchildren Parker and Drake Besaw. He is also survived by his siblings Raymond Reedy, Julie Kuper, Herb (Jane) Besaw, Scott (Tina) Albrandt, and Dave (Kay) Besaw.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Colleen Besaw and brother Roy Reedy.
