Funeral Held Tuesday for Miss Hossack

A large host of friends and relatives paid their final respects to Margaret Hossack, popular Spencer woman who died last Saturday when memorial services were held Monday at the Sacred Heart church in Spencer. The rites were conducted by the Rev. Fr. Phil Dailey of Ft. Dodge, assisted by the Rev. Fr. M. C. Wendle of Spencer and the Rev. Fr. E. J. Smith of Sioux City.

Interment was made in the cemetery at Ayrshire. Miss Hossack's untimely death at the Spencer hospital came after several days of serious illness, the result of an infection in the bloodstream.

Born November 7, 1899, at Ayrshire she chose nursing as her career while still a young girl. In 1920 she graduated from the nursing course at Mercy hospital in Mason City, after which she followed the profession for several years in and around Mason City and Spencer.

In 1923 she went to Chicago and until her return to Spencer in the fall of 1927, she was connected with the Ravenswood and Lying-In hospitals of that city. From 1927 until June 1930, she followed her profession in Spencer.

Going back to Chicago in 1930, she joined the staff of the Lewis Memorial hospital in the capacity of floor supervisor. Late in 1931, she returned to Spencer, making her home with Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Claer, her uncle and aunt, and practiced her profession as a private nurse and as a member of the staff of the Spencer Municipal hospital until the week before her death.

Her untimely death is a distinct loss to the entire community which she served so efficiently and unsparingly in bringing comfort to the sick and injured. She will be greatly missed by her large circle of friend and family,
