PHILIP O’CONNOR FAMILY
Philip O’Connor was born in Raheney, Ireland. He came to the United States and settled on a farm southwest of Graettinger. He married Margaret Jennings who died a few years later. He then married Margaret Mohan. There were two children born to his first marriage and seven born to his second marriage.
John farmed in Montana. Margaret (Maggie) kept house for Father John Kelly and later for the sisters at St. Ellen’s convent in Emmetsburg. Philip, Jr. and Frank farmed the family farm. Joe married Zita Slaven and lived in Chicago. They became the parents of four children and the grandparents of ten children. Mae, Nell, Lillian and Christopher lived on the family farm. Mae and Nell later moved to Graettinger. Mae and Nell were school teachers. All the children of Philip O’Connor, Sr. are deceased.
