JOHN O’CONNOR FAMILY

John O’Connor was born in County West Meath, Ireland. He immigrated to the United States and married Rose Montgomery in 1877 in New York City. They later moved to Iowa and settled on a farm in Walnut Township, Palo Alto County. They were among the early settlers to this area.

They later retired and moved to Graettinger. They are buried in St. Jacob’s cemetery at Graettinger.

They had one daughter, Margaret, who married Eugene (Jay) McCarty. Jay and Margaret became the parents of five sons. An account of their family is included in the history of the Eugene McCarty family elsewhere in this book.
