Gerald A. Spitler, my father, was born in Ayrshire on February 5, 1919. His father was Clifton A. Spitler the station master in Ayrshire. Clif was better known by the initials C.A., and he worked for the Minniapolis and St.Louis Raailroad. C.A. was married to Mary Oma Walters. She was from Spencer, Iowa, and C.A. was from Adair, Iowa. Gerald had a sister Maxine who was born in Ayrshire on December 8, 1916. Maxine's married name was Hovland.
Gerald A. Spitler married Rita Cass on July 15, 1945. Soon after he was discharged from the U.S. Navy. Their son, Gerald L. Spitler was born on May 22, 1946 in Weehawken, N.J. Gerald A. with wife and son visited Ayrshire and C.A. many times during the 1950's, 60's and 70's. Mary Oma Walters Spitler died in 1949 and C.A. died in 1972. Gerald A. Spitler died in 1991 in North Bergen, New Jersey.
