Died at the residence of Hiram Palmer, in Garfield township, on Sunday morning, January 27th, Mrs. Abigal(sic) Palmer, aged almost eighty-four years. The funeral services were conducted by the writer of this notice, Rev. J.P. Evans, of this city. The deceased was born in Kinderhook, N.Y., in 1800. She was married at Cambridge, Washington county, N.Y., January 9, 1821 to Lemual Palmer, whom she survived twenty-four years. She never had any children, and spent her last day with her adopted daughter, Mrs. Hiram Palmer. She was a consistent member of the M.E. church for nearly fifty years, and exemplified in the long life the power of the gospel of peace. In health she was a kind, earnest helper to all in sickness and distress, and as the infirmities of age crept upon her, she became more gentle, loving, patient and trustful; a shining example of the blessed influence of grace in old age, unconsciously proving that the real Christian never outlives his usefullness. Of her it may truly be said, "the end of the righteous is peace," and she rests from her labors.
