Funeral services for Gladys M. Sterner, 69, Atalissa, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 1, 1989 at the Snider Funeral Home in West Liberty with the Revs. John Beck and Jackie Tjarks officiating. Burial will be in the Overman cemetery at Atalissa.

Mrs. Sterner died Jan. 28 at the Veterans Administration hospital in Iowa City.

The daughter of George and Pearl Frye Chapman, she was born Dec. 16, 1919 in Muscatine county. She married Orville Sterner May 2, 1944 in San Francisco. She was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy Waves.

She is survived by her husband; 2 sons, William, Wilton and Larry, Denver, Co.; 2 daughters, Cherryl Koke, Ankeny and Kathy Hundoble, Wilton; 4 grandchildren; a brother, George, Muscatine and 2 sisters, Dorothy Carlisle, Atalissa and Betty Watters, Coal Valley, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents.
