Funeral services for Chris Tammenga, 68, Wilton, were held July 26 at the George M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Ahlstrom officiating. The organist was Pat Dilts and pallbearers were Emmet O'Toole, Jr., James O'Toole, Michael O'Toole, Harold Blake, Robert (Butch) Bierman Jr. and Joseph Wathen. Burial was in the Greenwood cemetery.

Mr. Tammenga died at his home July 23.

The son of Chris and Kate Wilkens Tammenga, he was born Feb. 3, 1918 in Muscatine. He married Jeanette Bierman Jan. 5, 1941 in Muscatine.

Mr. Tammenga was a member of Zion Lutheran church. He served as a construction engineer of heavy equipment during World War II, from 1943 to 1946. He was employed by the Muscatine Journal in 1937 as a printer and he retired in 1981 from the composing department.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Jerry, Muscatine; a grandson; a brother, Leslie and 3 sisters, Clara Fry, Muscatine; Frieda Schell, Kansas City, Mo. and Mrs. Frank (Teena) Foster, Independence, Mo. He was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and a grandson.
