Funeral services for J. Earl McIntire, 67, West Liberty, were held July 12 at the Snider Funeral Home in West Liberty, with the Rev. Joe Lee officiating. The organist was Dorothy Mays and the vocalist was Darren Brooke. Pallbearers were Gary McIntire, Jr., Curtis Heath, Steven Heath, Tom Howard, Brian McIntire and James Wieneke. Honorary pallbearers were Forrest Ridenour, Willard Rockwell, Milton Rockwell, Ray Hazen, Dale Christensen and Bill Cline. Burial was in Oakridge cemetery.

Mr. McIntire died July 10 at his home in West Liberty following an extended illness.

The son of Floyd O. and Grace Chesbro McIntire, he was born March 18, 1919 in West Liberty. He married JoAnn Heath Sept. 13, 1985 in Iowa City.

Mr. McIntire operated Mac's Garage where he worked as an auto mechanic for many years. He was a World War II veteran, serving for 4 years with a Navy PT squadron. He was a member of the American Legion Post 509.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Gary McIntire, Sacramento, Calif.; a daughter, Shirley Gustafson, Greeley, Colo.; 10 stepchildren, Donna Howard, Terri Heath, Debra Keener, Tamara Heath, Alan Health, Tom Heath, Micheal Heath, Steve Heath, Curtis Heath and Mark Heath; 20 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and a brother, Warren McIntire, West Liberty.
