Funeral services for Mrs. Kenneth (Bessie) Ruess, 64, were held at St. Joseph's Catholic church, West Liberty, May 9, with the Rev. Theodore Borger officiating. Burial was in Mt. Calvary cemetery. Mrs. Ruess died at her home in West Liberty May 7.

The daughter of Anton and Margaret Morgan Shimak, she was born in Louisa county Feb. 8, 1922. She was married to Kenneth Ruess in Davenport Oct. 18, 1947. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church, Nichols.

She is survived by her husband; 3 daughters, Elaine Behrens, Durant; Phyllis Rife, Atalissa and Karen Parizek, Lone Tree; 8 grandchildren; her mother, Letts and 4 sisters, Louise Harter, Burlington; Mary Long, Crawfordsville, Helen Wagner, Letts and Emma Gathman, Davenport.
