Charlotte Elsie Davis, 95, of Des Moines, and formerly of Albia died May 9, 1997, in her home in Des Moines. She was born Nov. 15, 1901, in Monroe County to William and Emma Hayner Phipps. She married Forrest Davis April 15, 1926, in Lovilia; he died Feb. 2, 1988. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lovilia Christian Church. She lived in Des Moines for nine years. She is survived by tow sons, Orman Davis of Aurora, Colo., and Robert Davis of Des Moines; two daughters, Willadene Blackman of Des Moines and Rosalee Hanson of Bladen, Neb.; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Wylie; and eight brothers and sisters. The service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Albia, the Rev. Lynda Carlson officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Lovilia. Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Sunday at Gilbert-Nordstrom Funeral Home South Chapel in Albia with family present from 2 to 4 p.m. Pallbearers will be Alan Crabtree, Randy Blackman, Colby, Rick and Trevor Hanson and Russell Lemley. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa.
