W. W. McKissicks Attend Funeral of His Mother
Mr. and Mrs. W. W. McKissick returned to Newton last evening from Albia, where they attended the funeral of Mr. McKissick’s mother who suffered a paralytic stroke last Tuesday morning.
Mrs. Anna Elizabeth McKissick was 88 years old. She had lived in Monroe county for 83 years, having come there with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Elder, well-known Iowa pioneers.
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the residence in Albia, with the Rev. A. M. Malcom, pastor of the Associate church, officiating. Burial was in Oak View cemetery.
Born in Indiana, Mrs. McKissick came to Monroe county with her parents when she was five years old, settling in Pleasant township. She spent the rest of her life in Monroe county. Her husband, the late Joseph McKissick, died Sept. 23, 1910.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Lou McFarland of Albia; five daughters, Mrs. Cecil Sloan of Albia, Mrs. J. V. Lemile of Leon, Mrs. Mabel E. Bain of Vashon Island, Wash., Mrs. Lulu Brown of Oakland, Calif., and Mrs. Nellie Tritz of Detroit, Mich., and three sons, W. W. of Newton, J. a. of Malden, Wash., and E. E. of Oakland, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The son, W. W. McKissick, is executor of his mother’s estate.
