Gary N. Beedle, 87, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa.

A memorial service will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, January 3, 2025 at the First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Clif Cockburn, Jack Gibler, and Lonnie Campbell, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Gary’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday, January 3, 2025. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Gary Norman was born October 26, 1937 in Onawa, the son of Jack and Annabelle (Lamb) Beedle. Gary grew up on a farm outside of Onawa and graduated from West Monona with the class of 1956. Gary served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged.

Gary and Shirley Irish were united into marriage March 26, 1958 in Elk Point, South Dakota. To this union three children were born, Ronda, Mark, and Rachelle.

Gary enjoyed farming and raising animals. He owned and operated Beedle’s Body Shop starting in 1982 until his retirement. Gary had his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying his plane with family members. He made many trips to Omaha to eat breakfast with his family. Another hobby of his was remodeling his house. Gary enjoyed fixing things and would fix many things for his family. He enjoyed his family very much especially watching his grandchildren’s sports activities.

Gary was a member of the First Christian Church in Onawa.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-six years, Shirley Beedle of Onawa, Iowa; three children, Ronda (Jim) Fischer of Lincoln, Nebraska, Mark (Pat) Beedle of Onawa, Iowa, and Rachelle (Dan) Sortino of Omaha, Nebraska; eight grandchildren, Jenny (Jon) Scully, Brandon Danner, Miranda (Tony) Arnold, Nikki (Pete) Scriven, Chris Beedle, Tiffany (Jon Allen) Beedle, Joe Sortino, and Jack (Anna) Sortino; seventeen great-grandchildren, Sara, William, Isobella, Mya, Lily, Kiara, Patrick, Natalie, Andrew, Emily, Morgan, Aaron, Kate, Zach, Zoey, Domenic, and Louie; sister-in-law, Janet Beedle of Tekamah, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Dale Bean of Onawa, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Annabelle (Lamb) Beedle; brother, Ronnie Beedle; sister, Janet (Ronnie) Heck; and two sisters-in-law, Carol Bean and Joy Chewning.
