Lora L. Butler, 65, of Soldier, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 9, 2024 at Burgess Health Center, Onawa, Iowa.

A funeral service will be 10:30 A.M Thursday, August 15, 2024 at the Soldier Lutheran Church, Soldier, Iowa, with Pastor Paul Coen, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Lora’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Soldier Lutheran Cemetery, Soldier, Iowa. A visitation will be 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 14, 2024, with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Lora Lee was born October 17, 1958, the daughter of Clifford and Dorothy (Lund) Shaffer. Lora grew up around Soldier, Iowa area and graduated from East Monona with the class of 1977. She worked for a few years at the Mapleton Bowling Alley in Mapleton, Iowa.

Lora Shaffer and Mike Butler were united into marriage on August 20, 1977 at the Soldier Lutheran Church. To this union two children were born, Maren and Nathan.

Lora worked at the Soldier Speedee Stop in Soldier for several years. She enjoyed camping, shopping at thrift stores, garage sales, secondhand stores, and riding the motorcycle. Family meant a lot to Lora, especially spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Together Lora and Mike were active in the Desconocido Motorcycle Club, Friends of the Lewis and Clark State Park, Onawa Classic Car Club and Midwest 2 x 4 Pickup Pullers Association. They are members of the Soldier Lutheran Church, Soldier, Iowa.

Survivors include her husband, Mike Butler of Soldier, Iowa, her children, Maren (special friend Hershel Roach III) Butler of Onawa, Iowa, Nathan (special friend Ashley Mora) Butler of Onawa, Iowa; grandchildren, Dalton Teeters, Halee Teeters, Logan Teeters, Jayden Roach, and Bentley Yanak; two brothers, Dwight (Judy) Shaffer of Whiting, Iowa, and Gerald (Elaine) Shaffer of Onawa, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Arles Dick of Lake City, Iowa, Neal (Joyce) Butler of Mesa, Arizona, Scott (special friend Rhonda Ferris) Butler of Onawa, Iowa ; sisters-in law, Sharon Shaffer of Soldier, Iowa and Penny (Steve) Mauch of Mapleton, Iowa; her dog companion, Harley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Dorothy (Lund) Shaffer; parents-in-law, Glen and Joan (Swenson) Butler; sister, Cathy Dick; brother, Marvin Shaffer; nephew, Jason Shaffer; and a close family friend, David Yanak.
