Alvin L. Gray, 82, of Whiting, Iowa, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Elmwood Care Centre, Onawa, Iowa.

A Graveside Service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Graceland Cemetery, Blencoe, Iowa, led by Hospice Chaplain Dale Wolf and Carrie Morgan. A recording of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Alvin’s obituary. A visitation will be 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Monday, June 10, 2024, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Alvin was born November 14, 1941. He was the son of John and Eunice (Pruett) Gray. He grew up in the Sioux City area and attended school in Sioux City and Onawa. Alvin was baptized in the Pentecostal faith as a child. His faith in God was a very important part of his life.

He worked for the local farmers as a teen and later worked at IBP/Tyson Foods in Dakota City, Nebraska, for forty years, before retiring.

Alvin was united in marriage to Betty Lou Scott on February 6, 1960. To this union, seven children were born: Mark, Caroline, John, Kenneth, Laurie, Sara, and Stephen. Alvin and his family moved from Sioux City, Iowa, to Whiting, Iowa, in 1978. Alvin loved living on his acreage and being outdoors. He enjoyed reading the Bible, watching old westerns on T.V., and taking his grandchildren to the zoo.

Left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Betty Lou Gray of Whiting, Iowa; children, Kenneth Gray of Whiting, Iowa, Laurie (Jeff) Mordhorst of Ute, Iowa, and Sara Gray of Whiting, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Diana Gray of Seymour, Indiana; son-in-law, Mark Morgan of Onawa, Iowa; sister, Patricia (Ernie) Gigaroa of Salix, Iowa; brother, James (Barbara) Gray of Sioux City, Iowa; sister-in-law, Carolyn Killebrew of Grand Island, Nebraska; grandchildren, Mark, Travis, Shauna, Carrie, Mark, Nicole, Kellie, John, Korbin, Shantel, Hunter, Teresa, Bethany, Alexis, Candace, and Colin; and many great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by children, Mark Gray, Caroline Morgan, John Gray, and Stephen Gray; parents, John and Eunice (Pruett) Gray; brother, John David Gray; sister, Nancy Marnell; and parents-in-law, Samuel and Opal (Mortenson) Scott.
