Linda Kay Simmons, age 66, of Mapleton, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, June 08, 2024, at her home in Mapleton, Iowa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, June 17, 2024, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Danbury, Iowa. Father William McCarthy will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the Danbury Catholic Cemetery of Danbury, Iowa.

A Visitation will be held two-hours prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with a Rosary Service at 9:00 a.m., on Monday, June 17, 2024, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Danbury, Iowa.

The Armstrong - Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Linda Kay Simmons was born on October 1, 1957, in Ida Grove, Iowa; one of ten children born to Melvin and Alice (Wieling) Boysen. She grew up in Danbury, Iowa and graduated from Maple Valley High School in 1976. After graduating, she moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where she went to beauty school and obtained her beautician’s license.

On July 27, 1979, Linda married Kevin Simmons of Danbury, Iowa. They were married in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Danbury, Iowa. The marriage was blessed with four children: Trevor, Steven, Jamie, and Theresa.

Once they were married, Linda and Kevin worked together on their family farm. She then became a stay-at-home mother to their four children. While she was a stay-at-home mother, Kevin and Linda purchased their business in 1992 where she was the business manager for 25 years. When she retired, her time was spent visiting her grandchildren, devoting her time to the Rosary Society and the church. She was passionate about praying the Rosary, teaching her children and grandchildren about Jesus and the love she had for the Catholic Church.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 44 years, Kevin Simmons of Mapleton, Iowa; children Trevor (Meghan) Simmons of Sioux Falls, SD, Steven Simmons of Lawton, IA, Jamie (Paul) Johnson of Bondurant, IA and Theresa (Joseph) Collins of Sioux City, IA; grandchildren: Audrey, Isabel, Jayden, BreeAnna, Jett, Christian, Madison, Morgan, Theo, Jerzi, and Kyler; siblings Jean Casteel of Gretna, NE, Bill (Karen) Boysen of Alliance, NE, Bob (Evelyn) Boysen of Graham, TX, Pat (Tom) Knutson of St. Paul, NE, Shirley Boysen of Danbury, IA, Dick (Toni Kreymborg) Boysen of Danbury, IA, Babe (Jerry) McBride of Danbury, IA and Ken (Kim) Boysen of Danbury, IA; sister in-law Mary Boysen of Ida Grove, IA; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents Melvin and Alice Boysen; and her brother Tony Boysen.
