Eileen Leavy, Scottsdale, died peacefully in her home on June 28th, 2012. She is survived by her Husband of sixty-two years, Frank. Eileen was born in the village of Slevoy in Co. Wexford Ireland, to John & Elizabeth O'Connor. She had nine brothers and sisters, and is survived by Mary Treacy, Aidan O'Connor, Dolly Treacy, Peggy Kenny and Anna Stacia Rochford.
Upon finishing her education, Eileen pursued a career in retailing in Dublin City. After their marriage in 1950, Eileen and Frank moved to the United States (1953), and settled in Marshalltown, Iowa. In Marshalltown they operated Leavy Brother's Meat Company with Frank's brothers Jim and Tom. Along with her loving husband, Eileen raised seven children: Anthony Leavy, Michael Leavy, John J. Leavy, Patricia Meloy, Kevin Leavy, Dennis Leavy and Denise Decker. Eileen helped to better her community through her involvement with the church, school, scouting and little league activities. St. Patrick's Day celebrations were annually spearheaded by Eileen & family.
In 1979 Eileen and Frank moved to Scottsdale, Arizona and expanded the family business. The company flourished and they decided to begin turning daily operations over to their sons. As a result of this success, Frank and Eileen were able to begin traveling back home to Ireland many times, including the family farm where Eileen was born.
Back home in Scottsdale, Eileen and Frank immersed themselves in the local Irish culture, helping to organize Phoenix's first St. Patrick's Day parade along with many other community functions throughout the years. The happy couple has been Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School and Church parishioners for thirty-three years, served as members of the Shepherd's Circle in the Diocese of Phoenix and have been longtime "friends" of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
