ULA MAE CARPENTER
Seeley Lake, Mont.
On July 25, 2021, a brave, adventurous woman, Ula Mae Carpenter, departed this earthly life. She went quietly in her sleep at Providence St. Patrick Hospital, Missoula, Mont., in very good care with family present.
Ula started her life in a small town in Iowa as Ula Mae Covington. In 1955 she married Ernest "Mike" Carpenter and they had four children.
Her most favorite thing to do was go dancing at the Wilderness Lodge. She also loved hiking the mountains and driving down terrifying roads, saying "I haven't been there yet." She drove all of us crazy and we will miss her forever.
Ula is survived by five children, Linda, Missoula, Mont., Mindy, Seeley Lake, Mont., Michael, Marshalltown, Iowa, Sharon, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Susan, Lexington, Va. Ula has three generations of grandchildren, many of whom spent summers in Montana.
She was preceded in death by her parents; all her siblings; her husband, Mike; grandson, Aaron; and granddaughter, Jennifer.
There was no service in Seeley Lake. She was cremated and will be taken back to Iowa to be buried next to her husband, Mike Carpenter.
Service in Iowa is closed to a small group of family only. Celebration of Life will be held at Sharon's home at 3 p.m. Oct. 9.
