Shalmer Lynn Avitt, 92, of Knoxville, passed away December 22, 2011.
Visitation for Shalmer will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, December 23, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville, with Shalmer's family present. Masonic rites will be held at 7 p.m., also Friday evening.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 24, also at the Winfield Funeral Home. Burial will follow services at Chariton Cemetery in Chariton, Iowa.
A memorial has been established to the Knoxville Rescue Unit.
