Louise D. Scott passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012, after a long battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome. Graveside services will be held at Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa, Iowa, at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2012.
Louise was born in Muscatine, Iowa, to Elton and Eva (Mick) Danner on November 7, 1917. Her family later moved to Oskaloosa, Iowa, where she grew up attending school and William Penn College.
In 1940, Louise gave birth to one son, Gary Michael Edwards, who passed away on their family farm at the age of 14. Not long after, Louise moved to the Phoenix, Arizona, area to start a new life.
During the next 40 years in Arizona, Louise enjoyed the challenges of being an office manager for a major software company. She experienced the joys of reading, attending the theatre, international travel, politics, and enthusiastically rooting for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Cardinals. Most importantly, she cherished a close circle of life-long friendships.
In 2002, Louise moved back to Iowa to be close to family. During this time, she continued enjoying life, family, and friends in spite of growing health challenges. Among many, she will be remembered for strength and perseverance through adversity, her witty sense of humor, beautiful smile, generous heart, and knack for attention to detail.
Louise is survived by her loving cousin and family, Ann and Jeff Van Drew, Michael Van Drew, and Matthew Van Drew.
The family is grateful for Louise’s friends and those who made it possible for her to remain in her home as long as possible. Thank you to the team at Medical Oncology & Hematology, Senior Helpers, Iowa Hospice, and Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center for their loving care of Louise.
As Louise was a generous giver, we ask that any memorial contributions be directed to the organizations listed above or to Hope Ministries.
