August Ross to be buried here Wednesday a. m. August G. F. Ross died Saturday evening at the Lutheran, hospital in Ft. Dodge. He was, 94 years of age, and while he | had been in gradually declining health in recent years, it was only the past few days that he had been hospitalized.

Mr. Ross had lived for the past few years at Friendship Haven, Fort Dodge He and Mrs. Ross had spent more and more time there, prior to which they had lived on Lake Okoboji during the August Ross summers and in Florida during the winter months. Services are to be held here Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock. The Rev. Paul Freeman, pastor of the Congregational church will officiate at Jongewaard chapel. Mrs. Isabel Ross will be soloist with Mrs. Kenneth Wallace at the organ. Burial will be at Riverview cemetery.

August Ross was born in Heide, Germany, the son of August and Emma Ross, and spent the early years of his life there. He was born on February 22, 1870. With his family, he came to the United States when he was 17 years of age. The family came to Sioux City where they lived for some years and where Mr. Ross worked for the T S Martin Co. There, on September 24, 1893, he was united in marriage with Emma Klee She preceded him in death on November 13, 1960. His parents and eight brothers and sisters also preceded him in death

Surviving is a son, Hobart of Spirit Lake, Des Moines, and Ft Lauderdale, Fla.; and two daughters, Mrs. Florence Hamilton of Indianola; and Erma, Mrs. M. Goodman, Escondido, Calif. There are eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren

Mr. and Mrs. Ross observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1946. Actually, the date was in 1943, but they decided to wait until after the war. Then they invited their friends to their cottage home at Vacation Village on West Okoboji and also held a special open house for those from Little Rock and Rock Rapids, who had been their friends for so many years. They were married at Sioux City, Iowa, and Immediately went to little Rock to live.

Mr. Ross operated a general store and engaged in banking in Little Rock in the early part of the century, and was highly successful. He was prominent in civic affairs in that community. In 1920 the Ross' moved to Rock Rapids, where he was associated with his brother, Hugo, in the operation of a grocery store.

He and Mrs. Ross owned the home at the corner of South Fourth Avenue and Carroll street and they lived there until 1939 when they decided not to keep up a home any longer. It was at that time that they started living several months each year In Florida, several at Vacation Village and they maintained an apartment at the Marietta Hotel here.

While in Rock Rapids Mr. Ross was active in many social and civic organizations. He was a member and active supporter of the First Congregational church and served some years as a member of the city council. Although it was some years since ho had actually lived in this community, he still called Rock Rapids his home, and this was his legal residence.
