OAKLEY NEWS:

MRS. M.L. HOWARD went to Chariton Monday to stay a day or two with her
mother, MRS. DILLMAN, who has been quite ill for some time.

MISS ELIZABETH OGDEN, of Chariton, Deaconess of the Chariton District of the
M.E. Church, came to Oakley Monday afternoon to visit Rev. and MRS. COOPER
and to attend the wedding of MISS GEORGELLA BEVAN and FLOYD HOLMES.

MISS MUNROE, of Des Moines, Sundayed with her cousin, MRS. ED. EGGLESTON, of
this place.

LOWREY YOUNG, who has been quite ill with pneumonia, is considerably
improved in health. He was able to be out to church Sunday.

Grandpa LARKIN is able to be out again after a severe attack of pneumonia.

The Young People's prayer meeting and Bible study at the M.E. church is more
than a success. A large number of enthusiastic young men and women are in
attendance every Wednesday evening.

C.W. RAMSEY & SONS opening last Saturday was a grand success from every view
point. It is reported on good authority that more than a thousand dollars
worth of goods, hardware and implements, were sold that day.

There are to be some fifteen young men and women baptized into the M.E.
Church April 18 at noon. Everybody is cordially invited.

MORRIS YOUNG and family and MRS. BROKART, of Ottumwa, visited at the O.C.
KEENE home Saturday evening.

JAMES KEENE is suffering with a sprained foot.

The spring term of school opened Monday with MISS VINCENT, of Whtiebreast
Township, as teacher.

A Sunday School was organized at Buxton Church last Sunday with MRS. BELL as
superintendent. There were 42 in attendance and all bids fair for a rousing
year for them.

The township Sunday School officers are preparing for a township convention
in the near future.

Uncle BENJAMIN CLOUSE was very near death's door last week for a few days,
but is much improved now.

MR. ED BALDERSON is hustling about preparatory to going to Canada in the
near future and MR. GILLILAND, of Liberty Centre, is already safely settled
on the BALDERSON farm.

MR. PERKINS bought a new "Iowa Dairy" Cream Separator of C.W. RAMSEY
Saturday.

Plans are on foot to repair both the churches in Oakley right away.

Our new blacksmith, MR. VICKROY, is doing a thriving business and he turns
out work good enough for the best.
