The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Thursday, May 13, 1909

LUKE JACKLEY, of Russell, is a young man of energy and enterprise. Not many
months ago he went to Washington and took a timber claim and has secured
additional timber rights. Recently he returned to Iowa to shape business
affairs for a long campaign in the west, going to Chicago and purchasing a
saw mill outfit, shingle machine, planers, etc., which he is shipping to his
western domain. This outfit includes engine, logging wagon and all things
complete, which, when he gets assembled, will be located and put to work.
His enterprise is certainly deserving of success and it may be that LUKE is
destined to become one of the lumber kings of the northwest.
