LOCAL NEWS:

B.F. PENNINGTON, wife and little daughter returned this morning from a visit
with relatives in Milo.

MISS ARTIE PRATHER, of Cedar Township, went to Davis City, this morning as a
delegate from the Home Missionary Society, of Russell, to attend the
convention to be held there this week.

MRS. MATHENY, of Des Moines, was a guest of her brother, and other relatives
in Chariton this week on her way to Lucas to visit her father, REV. MATHENY,
who is quite ill with paralysis.

RAY JAMES, who had been employed near Liberty Center has secured a position
with the Standard Oil Co. and has left for Ottumwa, today, to enter upon his
employment.

Carnations for Decoration at the Red Cross Pharmacy.

DR. W.L. ANDERSON and wife returned from their visit to Indiana, Saturday,
and he is again at his office looking after the wants and welfare of his
dental patients.

The Ladies of the Presbyterian Church will be entertained at the residence
of MRS. DON LEWIS on next Wednesday afternoon by MRS. VAN ARSDALE. Your
presence is requested.

One day this week while LEONIDAS BAKER was working out at the cemetery
something seemed to strike his leg and he thought someone had throwed and
hit him, but no one was in sight. His leg commenced to cramp and he was
quite lame for several days. The doctors say this was caused by a sudden
rupture of a small blood vessel.

The Joy Bearers, a young ladies class of the Stanley Sunday School will give
an ice cream supper at the Stanley School House next Saturday, May 29.
Proceeds to go to missions.
