Sept. 27, 1864 On Saturday morning (as supposed) at an early hour Mrs. Wise, of this place, committed suicide by drowning in the river near the ferry landing. He husband was absent in the army and she had been sick for some time, having lost two of her children by the late epidemic, she is supposed to have been laboring under a temporary insanity induced by sickness and low spirits. Her body was recovered during Saturday, and inquest held before Esq. Mintum, which resulted in a verdict in accordance with the above presumptions.
