Hazel Ivy Deweese, 82, of rural Pardeeville, Wis., died Wed., July 3, 1996, at Meriter Park Hospital in Madison.
She was born July 8, 1913, to Samuel and V. Evelyn Fuller Showman at What Cheer. Following graduation from high school, she obtained Teacher's Certificate and taught grades K through eighth in the rural school systems in Iowa and Nebraska. She married Warren Deweese on April 12, 1936. They moved to rural Pardeeville in 1977 where they raised and were innovators in the field of sheep production. In the year of her retirement, at age 64, she earned her Bachelor's Degree from Kearney State University in Nebraska. She was a member of the Portage Presbyterian Church and the Wisconsin Central Sheep Producers Association.
She is survived by a son, Jacque, and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren; three brothers, Fred, Robert and Ronald Showman; and two sisters, Audrey Evans and Mildred Ewing.
Memorial Services will be held Aug. 3, at 1 p.m. at the Christian Church in Delta with the Rev. Dan Sanford officiating. Inurnment will be in Springfield Cemetery near Delta.
