Carl Behnke was taken to the Monticello hospital Wednesday evening where he was operated upon for obstruction of the bowels. He passed away this morning.
Mr. Behnke was born in Germany May 29, 1844, and came to America in 1870. He was married to Miss Wilhelmina Moehler in a Lutheran church in Rock Island, Aril 26, 1874. They came to Wyoming in 1878, located on the W. C. Paul farm north of here.
Twenty years ago Mr. Behnke purchased the James A. Bronson homestead on East Main street, where they have since resided. They celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary last April. The day was spent quietly at their home with near relatives and friends calling to extend congratulations and good wishes.
He is survived by his wife, Wilhelmina Moehler Behnke; two daughters, Mrs. Amelia Becker, Monmouth, and Mrs. Henrietta Folker, Wyoming; and six sons, Julius of Clay Mills, Charles of Anamosa, Fred of Monmouth, Louis of Niles Center, Illinois, John and William of Wyoming. One daughter, Mrs. August Klemfoot, is deceased. Besides the children, Mr. Behnke leaves twenty-one grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at the Lutheran church in Wyoming Sunday, August 21, 1927 at 2 p.m.
