OLIN - Mrs. Mary Jane (Mayme) Platner, Hemet, Calif., 73, died Wednesday, July 21, following a brief illness.
Eastern Star services were held at Hayden Funeral home, Olin, Friday, July 23, 7:30 p.m., by Hiawatha Chapter No. 394. Memorial services were held at Hayden's Saturday, July 24, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Lloyd Dutro in charge. Mrs. Ronald Rogers was organist. Burial was in the Olin cemetery.
Pallbearers included Dean Anderson, LaVern Jamison, John Lorenz, Keith Hanna, Galen Hanna and Lynn Hayden.
She was born Oct. 23, 1897, the daughter of John and Mary Jane McBride Carson, Center Junction. She grew up in the Center Junction area where she attended school. She was married to Glen Platner at Anamosa, Mar. 7, 1917. They lived in Olin for several years, then moved to Davenport where they continued to make their home until about a year ago when Mrs. Platner moved to California.
She was a member of the Presbyterian church, Davenport, and had been a member of Hiawatha Chapter OES at Olin for more than fifty years.
Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Hummel, Hemet, Calif.; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Anderson, Rock Island, Ill.; a brother, Vernon Carson, Oxford Junction.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Feb. 26, 1969; her parents; a brother and a sister; one daughter, Ermelda; and a granddaughter.
