Leo W. Jackson, 68, died Sunday evening, March 28, after a brief illness.
Leo W. Jackson was born December 25, 1902 in Linn county, the son of William and Lefa Millsap Jackson. He attended the Linn county schools. On December 4, 1920, he was married to Euretta Underwood and since they had made their home in Morley.
For 18 years he operated a barber shop and grocery store and since 1943 he was propane gas serviceman in the Morley area. He retired from active work in 1967.
Mr. Jackson was a member of the Methodist church and the Knights of Pythias. He was the Mayor of Morley for several years and drove a school bus in the area.
Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. George (Dorothy) Wooder, Morley; a son, William L. of Cedar Rapids. Two grandsons and a brother, Earl Jackson of Waterloo also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Funeral services were held at the Goettsch funeral home Wednesday, March 30, 1971, with the Rev. Lloyd Dutro officiating. The KP Lodge rites were given by Virgil Miller, Martelle. Interment was made in Cedar Memorial cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Pallbearers were Raymond Schley, Lawrence Duncan, Harlan Bickerstaff, Mervin Switzer, Merle Hart and Maynard Van Antwerp.
