Christopher “Chris” Thomas Plowman, 38, of Tiffin, IA, passed into the next realm of consciousness from a work-related accident on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.

Chris was born February 5, 1986 in Iowa City, IA, the son of Nelson and Peggy (Dusenberry) Plowman. His youth was filled with baseball, football, and Ninja Turtles. After graduating from Muscatine High School in 2004, Chris went on to live in Rhode Island, Des Moines, and Cedar Rapids.

In May 2013, Chris met his LOML (love of my life) Jessica Eash and they married on September 20, 2014 in Muscatine, IA, immediately started planning a family. They had 3 kids in 8 months, their girls through foster care in January 2017 and their son was born September 2017. Chris was a devoted husband and an exceptional father and friend who always put his family first. He loved family bike rides, ice cream, Zyn, watching his kids’ playing sports, rap music, movie nights, nature and quiet moments of meditation.

Some of his dislikes were mac and cheese, folding socks, feet, eating seafood, bees and large crowds although he would happily endure them if it meant seeing his children enjoy themselves… especially at their annual visit to the Iowa State Fair. He was an avid learner and liked to understand things and to gain different perspectives when he talked to people. If you ever caught him at a party and were a part of these conversations, you know how much he valued learning from others and exchanging ideas. There will never be another person like him but he believed in reincarnation, so we’ll be looking for his soul all around us. Chris would want us all to live by his family rules: 1. Love everyone. 2. Share our feelings. 3. Tell the truth.

Chris is survived by his wife, Jessica (Eash) Plowman and their children: Adi (12), Lanie (8), and Hudson (6); mother, Peggy Plowman; his aunts, uncles and cousins; and Oliver Von Awesome Plowman – the family dog.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, Nelson; paternal grandparents, Harlan and Erma Plowman; and maternal grandparents, Raymond and Alberta Dusenberry.

A Celebration of Chris’s Life will be held Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 3:30-6:30 PM. There will be a 3:30 PM service with a reception to follow at Wilson’s Ciderhouse & Venue (event venue located on lower level) (4823 Dingleberry Road, Iowa City, IA 52240). Chris loved his Hawaiian shirts and his family invites everyone to wear one to the celebration. VENUE DIRECTIONS AND PARKING: Enter the main gate at Wilson's Orchard & Farm and head straight down the hill to the 2-story barn building. The event will be held in the lower level space and the service will be outdoors. Due to limited paved parking, please consider carpooling.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the GoFundMe for the Plowman family at gofundme.com/plowman.
