HICKENBOTTOM Rites Monday

Mrs. J. E. HICKENBOTTOM, 92, longtime resident of the Fairfield community, passed away about 1 a.m. today at St. Luke's hospital in Davenport (note: in Scott Co., IA). Her family home was at 304 E. Adams street, Fairfield.

Last rites will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Weston Behner funeral home with the Rev. George Meyers in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Mrs. Edith HICKENBOTTOM, oldest member of the Baptist church in Fairfield, was born Oct. 25, 1866, in Cairo, Louisa county, Iowa, the daughter of the late W. H. and Eliza McCRAY VERNON. She moved to Fairfield in 1902 and has been a resident of this community since.

She was united in marriage to J. E. HICKENBOTTOM in 1906. He preceded his wife in death in 1945.

Mrs. HICKENBOTTOM was a long-time member of the Baptist church, joining in 1906, and served as a Sunday school teacher and church officer for many years.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Verl SAMMONS, Davenport; one son, Wade HICKENBOTTOM, Upper Montclair, N. J.; four granddaughter (sic) and one great-grandchild. She is the last of a family of 13 children.
