Keith James Beal
December 8, 1948 ~ September 11, 2024 (age 75)

Keith James Beal, 75, of Newton died on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Sunnyview Care Center in Ankeny. A military burial will be held at 9:30 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2024, at the Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery in Van Meter. The family will greet friends from 3-5 p.m., Friday, September 20, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. Memorials in Keith’s name (checks made payable to Brian Beal) may be left at the funeral home.

Keith, the son of Harry and Juanita (Roberts) Beal, was born on December 8, 1948 in Nevada, Iowa. He grew up in Nevada and graduated from high school there in 1967. On August 23, 1970, Keith was united in marriage with Joan Robertson in Corydon. Keith and Joan were blessed with two children, Leslie and Brian. In December of 1970, Keith was inducted into the U.S. Army serving his country until June 16, 1972. Later he lived in Ankeny while he worked in various positions around the Des Moines area. In 1985, Keith got a job at the Maytag Company and made Newton his home.

Keith was a member of the American Legion Post 111 and a proud part of the Patriot Riders. For over 20 years, Keith and his longtime partner, Vickie Lundberg, enjoyed life together. During that time, Keith returned to school and received his HVAC degree from DMACC. Later he also drove school bus for the Newton Community School District. He enjoyed spending time out on his boat; which several times ended with a funny story of time spent in the water. After retirement, Keith and Vickie enjoyed several road trip vacations. Most of Keith’s free time was spent tinkering in his garage on his boat, cars, motorcycles; you name it and he would be working on it. Sometimes to Vickie’s chagrin those projects would even spill over to the kitchen table. Visiting with Keith would always include a good chuckle at his one-liners and quite often a pride filled recap of what his children and grandchildren were up to.

Keith is survived by his children, Leslie (Scott) Christensen of Plano, Texas and Brian (Wendy) Beal of Urbandale; grandchildren, Aidan and Camdan Christensen, Dakota Dawson (Olivia Bebout), and Zayne Beal; Vickie’s children, Brian Lundberg of Newton and Brett (Chantelle) Lundberg of Newton; Vickie’s grandchildren, Noele Lundberg, Dylann Beiner, Derek Beiner, and Chase Lundberg; his sister, Pandora “Pam” (Dan) Holtkamp of Kansas City; a niece, Danielle (Brian) Cool; and nephew, Joey Holtkamp. He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Beal; father, Harry (Mildred) Beal; and partner, Vickie Lundberg.
