$8,000 Fire at LaMotte

Origin Unknown but it Wiped
Out Several Buildings - Man Found Dead

Dubuque, July 19 – A disastrous fire wiped out a block of five buildings in the village of La Motte, Jackson County, this morning at 4 o’clock. The loss will be $8,000, the insurance $3,000. The fire originated in a pool hall and is a mystery. A restaurant and store, blacksmith shop, implement and carpet weavers establishment were burned.

An unknown man, believed to be Dojteck Sticha, Chicago, was found dead on the Milwaukee track Wednesday at Preston with a hole in the side of his head.
