Carol K. Uhlmann, age 84, of Williamsburg, passed away Monday, August 19, 2024 at Highland Ridge Care Center. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, August 22, 2024, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Williamsburg. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 23, 2024, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, with Rev. Beth Harbaugh officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Williamsburg. Memorials may be contributed to the Williamsburg Library Friend, St. Paul’s United Methodist Church or Essence of Life Hospice. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Carol is survived by her children, Dawn Ealy (Jeff) of Iowa City, Brian Uhlmann, of Iowa City, Steven Uhlmann, of Brownsburg, IN and Jason Uhlmann (Hannah), of Three Forks, MT; three grandchildren, Jonathan Ealy (Elizabeth), of Eau Claire, WI, Blake Ealy, of Dubuque and Jack Turner, of Three Forks, MT. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert and a brother Ken.

Carol Kay Shogren was born January 24, 1940, in Vinton, the daughter of Carl and Emmalena (Niebuhr) Shogren. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1957 and continued her education at Coe College, graduating from the Iowa State Teachers College in 1961. Carol received her bachelor’s degree in business education and taught at Williamsburg High School and Boone High School. Carol and Robert Uhlmann were married on August 28, 1965. Carol assisted in the Uhlmann family businesses until she began working at the Williamsburg Public Library in 1989. She thoroughly enjoyed 24 years of interacting with visitors to the library.

Carol was a beloved member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Williamsburg. She was very active within the church; she was a part of the church-building committee, a substitute organist and a volunteer in the “Attic Ministry.”

Carol stayed very busy playing bridge, cards and Bunco with a variety of groups. She experienced memorable adventures with her friends, especially the Golden Girls and the Red Hats. Carol traveled extensively with both family and friends, creating lasting memories along the way. In her quiet time, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and reading. Carol will be fondly remembered for her constant smile, her kindness to others, and her positive attitude.
