Williamsburgh Journal, Williamsburgh (Iowa Co.), Iowa, 27 Apr 1888, p3.
New Hudson, Mich., April 24, '88.
Mr. Osborn;
Dear Sir;--I see in the JOURNAL of last week an item from Michigan "a log rolled over a little 5 year old girl &c." It might be interesting to know that that little girl is a native of Iowa County, having been born in Green twp. in 1883, in other words it was my little girl. It was a miraculous escape for her, the log being quite a large one. It was lying on skids which kept it from from crushing her. Her head was quite badly injured and it was a great shock. It made her deaf in one ear and cross eyed but otherwise she is getting well and hopes are entertained by the Doctors that her eye and ear will be all right when she gets fully well. Her life hung only by a thread for several days. Yours Truly, WM. C. VOWLES.
