Frank J. Shade
born 1859

Frank J. Shade, a farmer and stock-raiser of section 6, Blaine Township, was born in Clinton County, Iowa, in 1859, son of Jermiah and Andelasia (Page) Shade, the former a native of Pennsylvania and the latter of Ohio. In an early day the father moved to the latter state, was married, and later opened a farm in Clinton County, Iowa. In 1882 they came to Corwin Township, Ida County. His death occurred March 11, 1891. Frank Shade, the second of eight children, was reared and educated in his native county. In 1881 he moved to Corwin Township, and in 1885 rented the H. H. Lund farm in Blaine Township for two years and in 1887 purchased 120 acres on section 6, Blaine township. His farm is under a fine state of cultivation, has a barn, 24 x 42, shed, 42 x 18, and he raises stock and Poland-China hogs. Mr. Shade is a Democrat and a member of the A. O. U. W. of Ida Grove. He was married in Jones County in 1884 to Mary Myers, a native of that county, and a daughter of Billy and Hannah (Kimball) Myers, who came to Pennsylvania to Clinton County in the early days. The parents died in Jones County in this State. Mr. and Mrs. Shade have three children: Fred, Bertha and Della.
