OBITUARY
BETTS.
Nellie Amanda Betts, daughter of Martin A. Betts and Mary A. Betts, was born at Cresco, March 29, 1876; was married to C. J. Watros also of Cresco, Aug. 30, 1894, and died at Monango, N. D., Nov. 4, 1918.
She spent her young childhood and girlhood at thehome{sic} of her parents, receiving her education in the public schools and in the seminary at Nora Springs until the day of her marriage to Jay Watros, as he was familiarly known, after which she lived on the farm east of the city of Cresco.
A few years ago they moved to Cogswell, N. D., to reside where Jay died Dec. 6th, 1913. Three children were born to them Jasper, who died in infancy and Clara and Vera who survive both parents. About three years ago she married Clarence Maxwell of Cogswell, N. D. The past two years they have lived in Monango, N. D., where her husband died Nov. 1st. She survived three days longer. In girlhood she united with the Methodist church.
The remains were brought here for burial Wednesday, accompanied by her oldest daughter, Miss Clara, and a cousin of the deceased, Miss Evangie Betts, of Webster, S. Dak.
Short services were held at Oak Lawn cemetery yesterday morning at 10 o’clock.Transcriber’s Note: Her gravestone shows the name of Watros.
