Fatal Threshing Accident.
Jim McIntire was fatally injured last Monday afternoon while at work with a threshing rig operating on the Harry Harvey farm a few miles east of Plymouth Rock. While cleaning straw and chaff from the side of the separator with his left arm his sleeve was caught by the belt and he was thrown against the machine and thence to the ground about a rod from the machine, fracturing his skull and both arms, causing injuries that caused death in a few hours without regaining consciousness.
The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at the M. E. church, Rev. Bockoven officiating in the absence of the M. E. pastor, in charge of the Woodmen of the World, who conducted the service at the grave in Oak Lawn.
James Alexander McIntire, Jr., was born at Frankville, Ia., Dec. 9th, 1884, where he resided in Frankville, and vicinity until 16 years ago, when he moved with his parents to Howard county where they resided on a farm four miles north of Cresco until 1906, when he with his parents moved to Cresco where he has since made his home.
He died at the age of 33 years and 10 months on Oct. 8th, 1918.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James McIntire, four brothers and two sisters, one neice{sic} and three nephews. The following relatives survive: Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Renne and son Floyd of Cedar Rapids, Ia., Leslie McIntire of Mason City, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. Clark McIntire and children Marguerite and Clark Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Leonard McIntire and son William of Cresco, Ia., Harry O. of Camp Dodge, Ia., and Mrs. A. C. Kronenberger of Minneapolis and husband “Over the Sea.”
“Jim,” as he was familiarly called, was a man of genial nature, a faithful friend and an honest, dependable man.
