MARRIED.
At 7:30 o’clock Wednesday evening, October 8, the marriage of Miss Mary Adelaide Fenlon, daughter of Mrs. Edward G. Fenlon, to Newton Everett Davis, of Lime Springs, took place at the home of the bride’s mother. Rev. George Raymond Cady, pastor of the First Congregational church, officiated at the Episcopal ring service.
The wedding took place in the living room, where the east wall was draped with vines and banked with palms; baskets of pink cosmos adding a delicate color. Baskets of the cosmos were placed in the rooms.
The bridal gown was of white net over white silk, worn with an arm boquet of bride’s roses and a pearl necklace, a gift of the bridegroom. Miss Fenlon was attended by her sister, Miss Mabel Fenlon, gowned in pink georgette, and wearing Ophelia roses. Wee Jaene Fenlon, the bride’s niece, was the ring bearer. Clad in dainty white she carried the ring in a basket of roses. A. L. Akerman, of Oskalooska{sic}, was best man.
Before the ceremony Maude Fenlon Bollman, of Rockford, Ill., sang a group of songs and as the bridal party entered voiced the exquisite melody of “Faithful and True” from Lohengrin’s Wedding March. The famous soprano’s voice was never heard to a better advantage than in the interpretation of the Wagnerian masterpiece. Mrs. Herbert Mathew of Morrison gave the accompaniments. An informal reception and two course supper followed the ceremony, and Mr. and Mrs. Davis left on the evening train for the west. They will be at home after November 14 at 413 Eighth Avenue.
The bride is one of the popular society girls of Clinton, a graduate of the Clinton High school who after attended Grinnell college and the University of Chicago. Mr. Davis is connected with Curtis Bros. & Co., returning to their offices after service in France. He was educated at Cornell College Mt. Vernon, and Grinnell College.
