Hayes—Knapp
The Immaculate Conception church was the scene of a pretty wedding Wednesday morning, Oct. 15th, when Miss Loretta Knapp was united in marriage to Mr. Geo. Hayes.
The bridal party entered the church to the melody of the wedding march played by Mrs. Dan Lynch. The witnesses were: Mr. Robley Evans and Miss Margaret Kennedy.
During the ceremony Miss Anna Enright sang “I Love You Truly” and “Ave Marie.”
The bride looked charming in a fall suit of dark blue tricotine and wore a large picture hat with shoes, gloves and accessories to match. She wore a corsage of pink, white and yellow sweet peas and snap dragons.
Following the nuptials a wedding dinner was served at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Evans to the immediate relatives and a few friends.
After dinner the guests reviewed the presents which were displayed in the entrance hall. The gifts consisted of china, cut glass, linens, silver, rugs, furniture ane{sic} $169.00 in money.
During the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Hayes left for the Twin Cities for a short honeymoon, after which they will go {to} the groom’s farm near Decorah where they will be at home after Nov. 1st.
Mrs. Hayes is the only daughter of Mrs. John Evans. She was educated in the I. C. A. at Elma and has had some training in the Cresco hospital as nurse. She is well versed in homemaking and will make the man of her choice a splendid wife. She is a young lady of winning personality and has many friends in this community who extend their best wishes for a happy future.
Mr. Hayes is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Hayes of Plymouth Rock. He enlisted in the army two years ago and only recently returned from overseas duty, having served his country well and faithfully in France. Mr. Hayes is a successful young farmer and worthy of the prize he has won.—Elma New Era.
