MARRIED.
A quiet wedding occurred last Tuesday noon, Sept. 16, at the Methodist parsonage when Miss Harriet Ruth Johnson and Mr. John W. Stockman were united in the bonds of matrimony. In the presence of a few relatives, Rev. E. G. Copeland spoke the words which made the happy couple husband and wife. Both bride and groom are well known in the vicinity of Cresco.
The bride wore a traveling gown of blue serge and a beaver hat. She is a fine young lady of excellent breeding and refinement. She received grammar and high school training at Elk River, Minn., and for a few years has been very efficient in the employment of two or three of the largest dry goods firms of Cresco. She is a young lady of excellent character and high ideals and will prove herself a real helpmeet to the fortunate young man who wooed and won her heart.
The groom also is one of the finest young men of the community. He is a graduate of Upper Iowa University and took two years additional training at the Cumnock School of Oratory in Northwestern University at Evanston, Ill. For two years, he was principal of the school of Moorhead, Minn., and for some time traveled on the Chautauqua platform. Their large circle of friends join in hearty congratulations and well wishes.
Mr. and Mrs. Stockman were driven by auto to Bonair where they took the one o’clock train for the Twin Cities for a few days honeymoon. They will reside at the Stockman farm five miles northeast of Cresco and will be at home to their friends after October 15th.
