SANBORN-GRUBE.
On Saturday evening, Nov. 23, 1918, at 6:30 o’clock occurred the marriage of Miss Sylvia Grube of Cresco and Mr. Phil Sanborn of Council Bluffs. The Rev. E. G. Copeland of the Methodist Episcopal church read the service in his study and the bride and groom were attended by Miss Gale Grube and Mr. Lloyd Miller and the bride’s father, Mr. John Grube.
After the ceremony the wedding party were motored to the home of the bride’s parents where a very delicious four course dinner was daintily served by the Misses Effie Sanborn and Mabel Grube. Places were laid for seventeen guests, members of the immediate families being the only guests, Mr. C. V. Puntney, Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Sanborn, Miss Effie Sanborn, and Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Griffith and Marjorie of Lime Springs, and member of the Grube family.
On Sunday the annual family Thanksgiving dinner was enjoyed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Sanborn a few days early complimentary to the newly-weds, who left Tuesday morning for Council Bluffs. Grandfather Puntney who is in his ninety-ninth year asked the blessing of the Almighty Father on the thank feast in a voice clear and sweet. Guests were the wedding party, the same guests who enjoyed the festivities on Saturday evening, and Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Sanborn of Lime Springs. A reception was held in the evening and ice cream and cake were served to neighbor friends.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Grube, a graduate of the Cresco high school and a successful teacher in the county for the past two years.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Sanborn and is employed as railway mail clerk at the Council Bluffs terminal. They will be at home to their friends after Dec. 10th, 1918, at 126 Fifty Ave., Council Bluffs.
