Maxine R. Bach, 87, of Iowa Falls, passed away Feb. 2 at the Scenic Manor, Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Open Bible in Iowa Falls. A time of visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday evening at the Linn's Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.

Maxine R. Bach, 87, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at the Scenic Manor, Iowa Falls. Funeral services for Maxine R. Bach will be 10:30am Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the Church of the Open Bible, 408 College Ave. Iowa Falls, Iowa. A time of Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday evening at the Linn's Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls, Iowa. Maxine Ruth Surls was born December 1, 1922, at Iowa Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Bessie [Rubendall] Surls. She graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1940 and retired in 1986 after a 43-year career as a sales clerk for JC Penney in Iowa Falls. Maxine was united in marriage to Albert Bach on January 14, 1945, and she and Albert recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Maxine was a long-time member of the Church of the Open Bible in Iowa Falls, where she was actively involved as a member of the orchestra and as a writer and presenter of dramatic readings and comedic skits. For many years, she presented "A Page from the Old Scrapbook", a poem, on the church's weekly radio broadcast in Iowa Falls and Webster City.
Maxine is survived by her husband: Albert Bach of Iowa Falls; one son and his wife: Randall and Barbara Bach of Vandalia, Ohio; one grandson: Ryan Bach; one great-granddaughter: Nova Bach; four nephews; and five nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: Kenneth, Charles, Robert, Raymond, and Donald Surls; and one sister: Lucille Emerson.
