Elva A. [Mulder] Linn, 93, of Pharr, Texas, and formerly of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Friday, October 19, 2012, at Arbor View Rehab and Nursing Center, Edinburg, Texas. Funeral services for Elva A. Linn will be 11:00 am Friday, October 26, 2012 at the First Baptist Church, 521 Rocksylvania Ave., Iowa Falls, Iowa. A time of visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday evening at the Linn's Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church, 521 Rocksylvania Ave., Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126; Ellsworth Hospital Auxiliary, 110 Rocksylvania Ave., Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126 [designated for new hospital]; or to Opportunity Village, 1200 N 9th St W, Clear Lake, Iowa, 50428 Clear Lake, Iowa.
Elva Mulder was born November 4, 1918 at Little Rock, Iowa, the daughter of John A. and Fanny [Terhark] Mulder. During one of the Mulder-Bronleewe family reunions she met Leonard Levi Linn from Parkersburg, Iowa. On January 1, 1940, Elva and Leonard were married in a snow storm at Worthington, Minnesota. To this union six children were born: Sharon Kay, Kathryn Ann, Sandra Yvonne, Linda Lee, Richard Dale, and Leonard John. Elva and Leonard operated Jack Sprat Grocery Store in Grundy Center until Leonard's induction into the Army during World War II. After the war they moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa and she worked as a nurse's aide at Sartori Hospital, Cedar Falls. They moved the family to Iowa Falls in 1958, purchasing the Roe Funeral Home. Elva became involved the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital as a nurse's aide in the OB Department and was also active in the Ellsworth Hospital Auxiliary (Past President and over 50 year member) and the Hyman-Peavey American Legion Auxiliary (Past President and Life Member). She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Iowa Falls, the Ellsworth Hospital Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, and a former member of the Iowa Falls Boat Club and the United Commercial Travelers. Elva was an avid bowler and participated in many state and national tournaments. While many of her brothers challenged her at golf, Elva and her bingo bango putter always won.
Elva A. Linn is survived by her children: Sharon [Bob] Sieck of Pharr, Texas, Kathryn [Bill} Dadukian of Bronxville, New York , Sandra Linn of Ramona, California, Linda Berg of Marshalltown, Iowa, Richard Linn of Honolulu, Hawaii, Leonard [Jean] Linn of Iowa Falls; fourteen grandchildren, five step grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren, ten step great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; five brothers: Emory [Joan} Mulder of Worthington, Minnesota, Gerald [Verna] Mulder of Worthington, Minnesota, Kenneth [Elaine] Mulder of Lake City, Minnesota, John [Jean] Mulder of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Bernie [Lois] Mulder of Merlin, Oregon; three sisters: Joyce Haveland of Chandler, Minnesota, Beverly [John] Greeley of Rushmore, Minnesota, LaDonna Christian of Lake Wilson, Minnesota; two sisters-in-law: Marion Mulder of Slayton, Minnesota, Betty Lou Mulder of Worthington, Minnesota; many nieces, nephews, etc. She was preceded in death by her parents: John A. and Fanny Mulder; her step mother: Mildred [Sturgeon] Mulder; her husband: Leonard L. Linn; a granddaughter: Patricia Jean Linn; a great granddaughter: Stephanie Marie Berg; her son-in-law: Allan Berg; four brothers: Merlin Mulder (infant), Ralph Mulder Harold Mulder, Richard Mulder; three sisters: Florence [Owen] Stangland, Marion [George] Harberts, and Fern [Gordon] Bronleewe.
